Hello all,

I am a student at the Oregon Institute of Technology, and I am going to be preforming an AC conversion on a 2000 VW Beetle 1.8T. This project will be fairly in depth, and the team that I have assembled (3 Renewable Energy Engineering majors, 1 Mechanical Engineering major, 1 Software Engineering major, 1 Embedded Systems major, and 3 professors specializing in motors, embedded systems programming, and power) will be working on producing a higher voltage AC motor controller. I know that there has been talk about Curtis coming out with a 144 volt AC motor controller, and that is what most of my team is interested in doing.

I am new to the forum, but have been reading articles in it for the past year, and have been using some of the blogs to generate ideas for my project. I just wanted to put my idea out there and see what kind of responses I get. Thanks,

Afreeman I am just wondering why you think you need a higher voltage
controller?
Are you guys planning on doing your own motor?

I have been working on my own motor design for the last
