Kinda crazy to be so easy on someone who has proven nothing but make a fair site that is asking for $10K down on nothing but a word. Now you know that some ones word is pretty much bunk these days. If they were on the up and up they would have a viable product to show us and some visuals on it's production. Even if it's only one. At least one can show proof of concept and that they did spend a lot of their own money to do it. That shows that they at least mean business. It does not prove that they can actually build others that will stand up to the claims. I too would rather see some real meat come out of these so called shops that are promising soooo much. So far not many are doing much in that department. Some are actually producing some nicely done S-10's. No racy cars but they do what they claim. Affordable too. So you might do better to be a bit more skeptical of such claims. Sure it would be nice but to have these available but I don't hold out much for that success since I have never seen a working prototype of what they claim to build. I on the other hand will learn and build my own before they have any viable product. I just don't have the patience to wait. Some day it will happen and I pitty those who loose their butts on promises never kept and nothing to show for the money spent. In other words many will loose a lot of money if these companies never produce a product but they will be happy to keep your money. : )

I wouldn't say trust them, just not write them off before we've seen it one way or the other. We don't want DIYelectriccar smacking down everyone who starts up a conversion business, whether or not they are legit, I say we encourage caution and wait for more concrete conformation.

You guys are too easy on them. It's a world of thieves and they will do anything to get your money. Anything. Videos are fine but a real vehicle to test or to actually get your paws on would go far for them.

Guess you have not been around the block as much as I and if you have maybe you have not encountered the worst around including on the web. Garbage just abounds and you don't see it. Sorry.

They have lots to prove. If they did not take orders yet then I would be a whole lot easier on them. A few guys toss them a down payment and poof they are gone. Gee, 5 guys plunk down $10K each and it's a years worth of pay for one person. Ouch. It does abound in all forms in this world. Would you pay your contractor $10K up front before any work was done and you not knowing exactly what you will get? I highly doubt it. If you do then maybe you should be parted with your money. I say be very hard. If they prove OK then they have earned that respect. So far no respect has been earned by posting a web site and asking for $10K down payments. Just does not jive. Even if they do have a real conversion they may only want to do so to take your money. Make it look good, good thieves will DO ANY THING.

Sure, buyer beware but we do need to not turn a blind eye to this stuff. Be proactive in protecting others who may be taken easier. Do unto others........ you know the rest. I'd hate to find out I got taken for a ride and know that someone here knew and said nothing because they feel its not their business. OUCH.

I see it, plain as day. I think most people would. That's why I'm not giving anyone my hard earned cash. Some dont see it, granted, warn them if you like but I refuse to slander people in a public domain just because i dont know any better

i guess this is my fault.i didnt ask enough questions when i had the tech on the phone.and i didn't write down his name(so when i call back i can't tell them who i spoke to).i didn't ask if they had taken deposits yet.the way the tech explained things to me i dont think they have(just an opinion).it sounds like they are just working out the final bugs in the system.again all i can say is: don't give up any money just yet.wait for the final product if it is produced.

What slander? I am stating a fact. They have no viable product but still want you to fork over $10K as a down payment on absolutely nothing.

like I said earlier, if they would hold off taking down payments until they actually had a viable product to sell and build then this whole thing would be easier to swallow.

Better said this way. Would you pay a contractor to remodel your kitchen $10,000 before any work was ever done and without knowing what items would be put into the kitchen? I supply the kitchen. Remember a well done kitchen remodel could easily cost $25K these days. So they are asking about half down before any work is ever done. Just plain stupid to plunk down a down payment like that.

No slander here, just common sense. I will be hard on them in the public domain. Just helping protect the person who may be easily swayed by things like this.

most if not all contractors require a "draw" or down payment.no contractor will start a job unless he at least gets the money for materials.the contractor must protect him/her self also.ask anybody who has had a house built or remodeled if they got a job started with no money down.

still not saying this company is legitimate.just saying give them a shot at putting the vehicle out there first before you throw money (or words) around.

I am aware of what is stated but no contractor is to accept that high of down payment. Usually very high down payments are a large red flag. Be aware of that. Even the news warns of that kind of practice. Pretty common knowledge that if someone wants that high of a down payment then it is usually a scam. Buyer Beware and I will continue to warn. Why do you all insist on keeping passive about an issue like this? Sad indeed.
