Default Custom made BMS for LiFePo4 pack

There are many discussions here about LiFePo4 BMS, some DIY projects, some off the shelf systems, some very expensive, etc. I spent a lot of time looking for my BMS and ended up building my own version. I ordered a batch of professionally made PCBs and have over a hundred PCBs left over. Right now I don't have plans to produce these in mass quantity unless there is a strong demand, and I certainly don't pretend to have the cheapest system around, but I think its reasonable cost for those who are not comfortable with DIY approach. My system is based on Brian's Volt Blochers for balancing and TPPacks system for LVC and HVC feedback, it combines these 3 functions together. Its designed specifically for large prismatic cells, to be mounted directly on battery posts.

There are some restrictions in my offer:
- I can only support TS160AH or SE180AH cells, they are the same dimensions and my boards will fit exactly on the terminals.
- I can only support Zivan NG3 charger because it supports my HVC feedback design and its tested and proven to work in my own EV. I will not take the risk of supporting a charger that I am not familiar with.
- my system comes with "EV Control board" which is custom made for your EV to properly integrate LVC and HVC feedback. The picture shows my own control board which also supports Automatic tranmission and Idle mode. If you don't need those functions, I will make a smaller and simpler board, just to integrate LVC and HVC. I will need to know your controller model to build LVC support.
- you will have to properly mount these modules and run a 4 wire bus across the pack. I will supply connectors, but you will have to buy the wire and punch it into connectors using standard wire punch tool.
- you have to ensure that heat sinks do not touch anything and have minimal room for ventilation. Force ventilation is not required, they don't get too hot, about 120F max.
- you have to order Zivan NG3 with correct voltage levels for your pack size ( 3.6V U1 and 3.8 Um times number of cells, its their standard setup for LiFePo4 )

Technical specs:

- up to 2 Amps shunting current
- 3.8V High Voltage Cutoff ( HVC )
- 2.6V Low Voltage Cutoff ( LVC )
- LVC triggers 50% throttle reduction and audible buzzer
- HVC connects to Zivan thermoprobe port and pulls back the charging current when any cell hits HVC level, starting the balancing phase

Price - $20 per module plus $80 for control board plus UPS ground shipping based on your ZIP code.

Please PM me if you are interested.

Here are pics of the module and control board, again, your control board will be different depending on your specs.

Since VoltBlochers are no longer available, I am offering remaining of my inventory at deeply discounted price. If you want cheap and simple BMS, get it now while supplies last, I am not planning to order any more PCBs, so once my current PCB supply runs out, the deal is off.

I offer fully assembled modules as shown in the picture, but to save cost I offer them without metal ring terminals, you can easily make them yourself for whatever cell size you have, or simply use wires with automotive ring terminals, PCB is designed to take either wires or machine screws, so you have options.

Module dimensions are 67mm long x 39mm wide x 20mm tall , make sure you can fit them before ordering.

For TS cells I offer modules without trimpots, with preset HVC=3.8V and LVC=2.7V , these will not need any calibration.

For SE cells I can offer modules with trimpots or I can preset HVC and LVC with static resistor values if you tell me desired voltage levels.

Modules with HLVC option come with 4 wire punch-in connector header, you have to supply your own wire and punch it into connector headers, any CAT3 or CAT5 type of wire will work.

Control board is not included, but I can provide example of my schematic, its very easy to build DIY from Radio Shack parts.

As additional incentive, I will include automotive ring terminals for 18AWG wires if you plan to use wires on your modules.

UPS Ground shipping cost will be added based your ZIP code.

All modules are fully assembled except terminal connections, I do not sell DIY kits:

Basic module, no HLVC, no trimpots - $15
HLVC module, no trimpots - $17
HLVC module, with trimpots - $19

These are only for LiFePo4 cells, not for Lead Acid. I don't do Lead Acid, so please don't ask for it.

I already have couple of orders since VB announcement, so think fast

Send me PM with details of your pack, number of cells, type ( TS or SE ), cell size, your ZIP code, etc.

I accept Paypal, so you get buyer protection, which costs me 3% of your order, just so you know
