Default Electrocuted???

Can we get electrocute ? If the EV like 48v. motor + 8 of 6v. 225 Amps batteries fell into the water. I'm very new to this EV thing but really really love the simplicity of its architecture - no fumes , noises , moving parts etc.
And especially you people who converts the ICE car into the EV .....the world owes you man....SALUTE

Welcome to the forum.

Odd first question, unless you are prone to driving into water, I would suspect drowning would be more of an issue then electrocution from 48 volts.

Now, with some of the 200-300v conversions it may be something to consider...

One could approach an ICE car forum and ask if risk of explosion from the fuel is an issue. Most, I'm sure, wouldn't give it a second thought.

No you can not, the voltage is to low but do not touch the batteries when on the battery charger is on this will get your attention real quick.

'fell into the water?' like into a pond or stream? you might short the motor and pop fuses.... but unlikely to get zapped unless you happen to grab the most ++ and most-- cables during assembly. Don't drop a wrench across terminals though! sparks will fly, posts will met, fuses will blow, etc.

No you would not be electrocuted if you drove your EV into the water. Does not work that way.

However you can be electrocuted working under the hood. With 48 volt systems the danger is not so much from electrocution, but from flash burns from shorting out the buss.

If you test your batteries like we used to do when I was a kid with a 9 volt battery, the old tongue across the terminals, there's a chance..

if you could get your tounge across the terminals of a 8 volt battery, you deserve to go to heaven.... but seriously, the most dangerous time is probably when you are doing your final assemble of contactor ad controller where you could potentially touch most -- and most ++. You wanna be sure you have an open terminal somewhere in the loop when you are working on that stuff!

Thanks for the answer . I got the answer and quite a tounge in here The question's raised from some little kid while we discuss about the possibility of using electric motor in various kind of vehicles . I've converted the VW Beetle into electric and now writing a casual reading book about this EV subject. The car is pretty cool.....a home-made chop top - most kids around the neighbour just love it. We came to the point of "What if......" , the topic is the Amphicar . Kids asked "What if it sinks?" and I just went Whadda.... --"

PS. WHAT IF....it's a hundred something system???
...hope nobody goes WHADDA !@# on me

I recall years ago I had an big artifical pond in our back yard. I was using a 120v AC submersible pump to drain it down for a liner repair. As I was draining it I could see the fish in the clear water watching me with curiousity. As they swam closer they began to do this strange roll and vibrate. Then they would swim away. I couldn't figger out their behavior until I put my hand in the water...........GHEEZE LOUISE! VOLTAGE LEAK!
Now this was a large 25 foot pond and yet the water near the pump was electrified. Strange it didn't pop the circuit breaker huh?
Anyway here is a pic of an Amphicar you could show thoses kids:
