Default [EVDL] Golden Motor Canada, any dealings anyone ?

Hello all,
Has anyone purchased, or are running the brushless motors and
controllers from Golden Motor Canada ?

I was thinking about using their 5Kw motor in a reverse trike design,
how do they manage to sell you anything over 500w here in Canada ??

Grant

They can sell you whatever you want to buy.

What the law says about whether you are allowed to use it on the street
is a different matter.

I know in Ontario motor assisted bicycles (mopeds?) are limited to 500W.

Above that and you have to have it certified as a motorcycle.

I believe there is extended experience with high power
motors in "bicycles" over at Endless Sphere.
BTW, while I am commuting by bicycle and proud that I
can reach close to 20 MPH (mostly be pedaling to get
a workout) I am regularly passed by one specific
bicycle where the rider is hardly pedaling at all, but
has more than twice my speed (he gains on me much faster
than the distance to things that I passed increases).
This is on the shoulder of a 50 MPH expressway and I have
the impression that he just about keeps up with traffic.
Sure a fast way to get home (I usually see him go on the
way back) but hardly legal as he needs 5+kW to maintain
that speed (mostly due to wind resistance).
Actually - I have not seen him in several weeks.
Either his ride is down or he encountered the strong arm
of the law, or met with the laws of physics (something
that goes fast, also crashes hard).

If you do not mind to register your trike as motorcycle
then you can do just about anything you like, 3-wheel
vehicles have hardly any regulation (at least over here)
that is why a lot of EV are build as 3-wheeler to escape
both the NEV restrictions and avoid the expensive
safety and crash-test requirements of 4-wheelers.
