Default Hi everyone

Hi all
Im looking into a small car conversion just for fun. Work was scrapping a forklift and let me have the motors so that will hopefully get me going. thoughts are If I can find a really good deal on one to do a Austin Mini with the original trans and electric motor on top of it with a block off plate.
if i can not find one i may do a BMW e30 there seems to be 2-3 nice ones not runnong evey month. a lot larger car than I need but you gotta start some place.
goals 45 mph. 10-15 miles round trip. I have some hills etc.
time to sell off some of the motorcycles that collect dust.
also we have another forklift but the motor was Gigantic so i didnt pull it. it was 13-15 inch im not sure I can check if anyone uses anything that big.looks super heavy.
Phil

Welcome! I only wish a forklift would drop in my lap...

I've heard of people using up to 13"ers, but no larger. Along with the extra weight larger motors are more RPM limited.

I used a large fork lift motor in my Yugo and it is only 8HP.
Puts the car to 55 mph and goes 15+ miles when I have good batteries.
Am using Deka gells and love them.
Have 13,000+ miles and 6 years on the car.
