Default What is normal vacuum fade?

I have my vacuum pump and reservoir hooked up with a vacuum gauge and variable rate switch. The system is from Brian aka rctous and it is a nice neat system.

I have the vacuum set to max out at 21 inches. When the pump cuts out, the vacuum starts dropping fairly rapidly. It takes about 30-35 seconds for the vacuum to drop to 16 inches at which point the pump starts up again. It takes about 8 seconds for the pump to reach 21 inches again. This happens without applying the brakes.

Here's the question...

Is this a normal rate of fade? It results in about a 25% duty cycle for the pump and I'm concerned that it may not last if it is cycling and running this much. This would never be a problem with the ICE because of the constant vacuum available. Do I have a leak? Is it even an issue?

Thanks.

Rob
