Default Project H.P.D.D. (1995 Toyota Supra)

My Goal is to build a high performance daily driver with all the luxuries of a normal Internal Combustion Driven vehicle, AC, Power Steering and my favorite a loud sound system, I'm new to it all so a part list along with the description of each component is much needed and will be greatly appreciated.
  • Your skill level with auto mechanics and fabrication
As far as suspension, brakes and regular servicing goes I'm a pro, on the fabrication scale of 1 - 10 im a 4, I have gear heads and fab dudes on hand so no worries
  • The range you are hoping to get (how many miles/charge)
I Live in the Capital of the Bahamas and the Island is only 31 square miles so i figure around 50 - 60 miles per charge should suit me well

  • What level of performance you are hoping to get
Ive owned a few very fast very powerful Turbo cars and i hope to get the same if not even better performance out of this build, and as much as I love the Toyota 2jz-gte Motor the damn thing devours fuel, Donor Vehicle is a 95 Supra and from the looks of things i may just be the first to do so in this model, correct me if I'm wrong.
  • How much money you are willing to put into your project
Anywhere from $3,000 - $7,000 besides the cost of the Donor Vehicle
  • What parts you've already considered, if any.
Motor: Warp 11, that's if I'm advised to go smaller lol
Power Source: Li-ion Batteries
Sad to say that's all i savvy, I leave it to you guys to point me in the right direction in terms of all the other components needed to make my dream a reality.

Thumbs up Re: Project H.P.D.D. (1995 Toyota Supra)

Hi there!

I'm doing a mk3 Supra!
It already moves under electric power, but now I have the long grind
of finishing the brackets, wiring everything properly, etc.

I'm using a Zilla Z2K controller and Warp11 motor, which should be good for
over 400 HP (or kW to be more correct when talking about electrics)

I'm currently trying to do the liquid heating for the dash air and cabin heating - not as easy as it sounds...

Anyway, if I had a mk4 Supra, I would have converted that. The rear
frame members are straight and parallel in the trunk, making installing
a simple rectangular battery box easy there. Much harder with the mk3
Supe, as it's frame rails bend in this area so a more complex box is needed.

There's tons of space under the hood, so my conversion will have 2 strings
of 11 batteries, at 12V each, so that's 132V system. To fit all those in, I've had to lose the air-con (it was in the way, I could refit it if I get custom hoses built)

Have a look at my website(s) for more info

(under construction!)

There's another member here who's doing a mk3 Supe (Dan Dunn)

P.S. If you get stuck for technical info, I've got a set of the official Toyota Mk4 Supra technical manuals, from a gent on www.mkivsupra.net

Since you are doing performance DC conversion I would recommend Soliton1 controller. Its almost local to you, made in Tampa, just 600 miles away or so

You will not regret the power from Soliton1, trust me. Try to go with max battery pack you can fit and afford, largest cells ( for max acceleration current ) and max voltage ( speed ).

Sadly, you can't do a performance conversion on 7K budget, it will be more like 20K.
