Default Ryobi Tek4 Batteries

Hey guys!

What do you think about using 36 of these Tek4 batteries in my EV?

I don't know much about batteries, but isn't lithium-ion the best type to use?

I use the suckers in my tools and they work amazingly, and they charge in half an hour.

They retail for 12.97.

Yay/Nay ?

Thanks!

$440 bucks for a full lithium pack to get me down the road? Where do I sign up? All kidding aside that won't get you very far. You'd need minimum of $8,000 worth give or take a couple thousand for a good pack for your car.

Maybe for a bicycle but not for your car.

Pete

What are you planning on building?

Those are AA and AAA size batteries. You pay a fortune for them if you purchased enough for a pack for your car.

Good news is that there are better lithium batteries for EV use and much cheaper than what you'd spend on those tiny batteries.

You need to get better understanding of energy levels involved in EV. Typical mid size EV uses 250Wh to travel one mile. Say you want an EV with 50 miles range, that means you need battery with 12500Wh of usable capacity. This TEK4 battery has 6Wh rated capacity ( usable is probably 5 Wh if you take good care of it ) , which means your EV pack needs about 2500 of these cells, at $12 each that comes to $30,000. So to answer your question, yes, you can do it, but there are much more cost effective ways of building EV pack of Lithium batteries. You can browse thru Batteries forum section here to get some ideas of what people are using in their EVs.

Hope this helps.
