Default Sandrail? (Northeast Illinois)

I never though about asking here but maybe one of you guys would like doing an EV conversion on this. One could easily fit a 120v lead pack in it.

96" Sandrail. Street legal w/ title. Currently powered by a v6 Mazda 2.5L KLDE engine. It's about 1000lbs, 180hp, 0-60mph under 4sec. 5-speed maual. You'd get great EV performance out of it. I'll even throw in a 12" series motor for $250 more.

Asking $4k.

Wish I knew about it sooner. Found a cheap sand rail frame that needs a lot of work...oh well. Good luck.

Yes, going electric. I have the motor, controller and an IRS VW transaxle. The frame needs sand blasting, welding and paint tho. Got it real cheap, but the labor is a lot for the work. Trying to do it myself, but i don't have access to a sand blaster or garage. I guess i could pu a decent sand blaster, but idk about buying a flimsy walmart car-port with sides. i think the blasting would tear it and my grass up. LOL. Nice wheel btw.

As much as I'd like to see this converted to an EV, why would you want to replace a motor that does 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds in the rail? Does the ICE motor run? How did you get the weight at 1000 lbs with a 6 cylinder motor and trans, plus that bodywork? Did you weigh it? I'd imagine it's 1250 to 1500 lbs wet. I have an aluminum front end, aluminum wheels (all 4) and no body panels on my rail. The WarP9, adapter and controller probably weigh 225 lbs, which is about the weight of the original ICE. The rail with swing-axle w/drum brakes all around probably weighs 600+ lbs. Thow in the pedals, floor, hydraulic brakes etc and I'm pretty sure it's over 1,000 lbs not including the batteries, control boxes and other parts. With 350 lbs of lithiums I hope to be at about 1600 lbs. I'll weigh it when complete. Also building a 200+ hp VW air-cooled motor to run on propane/NG/gasoline. Should be interesting comparison.

Yes I weighed it. 1080lbs. It's been sold. The buyer says he lost to an EVO with a GT35RS swap/tune but only by one car length.

Can't say that 96 volt of 12 volt batteries will be very good in the performance or distance category. Yes you could fit 8 12 volt deep cycle batteries in that but the distance would suck and the performance marginal compared to the ICE in it now. Needs more than 96 volts and needs lithium for power and distance coupled with a real nice light weight powerhouse Synkromotive controller set for 900 amps. Might even look into 190 volts too. Could do that with 60 AH cells. You'd get the performance and much better distance than with lead acid.

And it would be fun to drive. 96 volts would be OK but not what I would call FUN.

I am have an electric rail that I plan to run 144 to 156 Volt (not sure yet) 60ah Sinoply or 70ah Calbs. Have the Zilla controller, WarP9 and I guess my weight will be a lot less then I considered, maybe 1200ibs with lithiums. Any ideas on performance? Not concerened with range as much. What should the amps be set on controller to get best performance and longevity of lithiums? Just want to spank a 500hp car at the stop light, I mean track, not worried about 1/8 or 1/4 miles....yet....Thanks.
