I have a 2010 Wheego Whip- which are sold at 25mph. I've been told that they can be increased to 40mph but I will need a curtis 1311 handheld programmer. (which I can get off ebay)
I'm in the LA area. Does anyone know anything regarding speed increases on low speed vehicles and how to do it? Ideally I'm looking for someone in LA (or nearby) who could do this for me.
But any help or guidance I can get will be greatly appreciated!

The controller can be rented too. Get the correct plug with it.

BTW" Ditch the AGM batteries ASAP. Upgrade to Lithium and a good charger.

It looks to be a cool little car. Maybe a tad expensive though.

The big question is HOW to change it.

Curtis software is menu driven. Meaning you just plug in, turn key on, and hit "connect".

select read "parameters"

Check vehicle mode setting under the "speed mode express" section.

What ever that is (type 0-1-2), go to that section.

(Assuming type 2- Torque mode) Go to type 2 torque mode section.

Read: (under Speed Limiter) —"Max Speed"

It will be a value between 0 and XXXX Rpms.

Set it to the maximum allowed. "Hit save"

Hit "disconnect"

Turn off key, unplug .

Done.

There are a TON of things that can be changed in there. Most of them will be a mistake to change.

The correct plug is a 2x2 molex.

I have heard it is a headache to convert to Lithium from Bill at HPEVS.com He said there is a custom program on the Whip and there is some wiring problems concerning the current sensor amplifier. Have you heard of anyone else converting to lithium successfully?

This car is head and shoulders above the ZENN, wich is a pretty nice little car. The Whip is my favorite NEV.
