People have shown that they don't really want limited range vehicles for the
most part, and a 20 mile range just won't cut it, even if you can swap or
recharge quickly. It's also not necessary to cripple a vehicle with such a
short range. If 200 mile range with a 60 second recharge is not realistic, a
100 mile range with a 5 minute recharge is, and much more useful and
marketable to the public. I still think we are going to see continuing
advancements in battery capacity and pricing such that swapping and fast
charging will be less and less of an issue. Personally a 50 mile range EV
would handle 99% of my driving needs even without fast charging.
