Default Cycle Tester capable of 300A down to 1.0V?

I'm sure we all want more advanced data on LiFePO4 life.

First thing, what effect does high-C discharge have on cycle life?
More importantly: what are the effects of just bursts of high-C discharge?

Does anyone know of this information out there?

I don't, so I'm making it into a senior project at a local university to build a battery cycler capable of 300A continuous discharge and 30A charging, and capable of completely scripted, arbitrary charge/discharge waveforms. (I'll even turn it into a kit after they're done if people are interested in owning one themselves.) We'll then publish results as they become available.

The instructors want to know if such a thing exists already at a reasonable price point. I haven't heard of any; anyone else know?

Oh, and it'd have to work on Mac/Linux because we don't use Windows around here!

Thanks

Here is a thread about stress-testing lithium batteries:

Well, kinda.

I have a CC-400 400W discharger and CBA-II battery tester. Runs on windows.

I know I could use one of those powerlab 8 and a couple of the CC-400's. You would run the powerlab 8, it would trigger the CC-400's as soon as it would start discharging and then the powerlab would stop once it gets a certain level and charges again. Not sure the limits, or why you'd ever want to go to 1V.

yes, there's stuff out there. There's also a lot of stuff that'l do discharging, not a ton will do cycling.

I'd be interested in something that does more amps though, so you could test some of those 180Ah+ lifepo4 cells to see if they really meet spec.
