Default any DC motors with directional internal fan?

I am thinking that since *most* of us using DC motors only turn them one direction, and have advanced them for high voltage to the point where reversing motor direction with contactors is unlikely....

have any of the specialty motor people considered swapping in directional fans to get more efficient airflow than the typical simple radial design?

Default any DC motors with proximity sensor-ready hole?

as long as I am thinking about EV optimized motors.... How about DC motor with a handy-dandy pre-drilled and tapped hole to give a peek at something with 2, or 4, or 6 pulse prox?

For those of us not having tailshafts, it sure would be sweet to just buy a standard prox sensor and screw that sucker in!

something like turbo, or enclosed, or two-row fin impellers?

exactly.

anthing 'swirly' will be more efficient and more more air than straight radial, but obviously not for both directions. so, motors advanced for cw would need different fan impellers than those set/advanced for for ccw.

I had an ADC 8-inch with a modified internal fan, and it didn't really seem to run any cooler. I actually had to add booster fans to the comm. to keep it cool.

I can't remember exactly what type of fan it was, but I will try to find some pictures of it. I believe it was a high volume fan for a forklift application.

Some racing brakes angle the "fins" that separate the two disks (aka "vented disks"). The idea is to pump the air out of the disk for more cooling. It wasn't a squirrel cage, but for a propeller (window style) fan with shaped blades I tried reversing the direction. It blew significantly less air in the reversed direction. I imagine the same could be true with a squirrel cage fan.
