[EVDL] Hotrodding Quickie electric wheelchair
Anyone ever increased the speed (from 7 to around 13 mph) on an electric wheelchair? I met a fellow is looking to use a Quickie electric wheelchair as the basis for an E-Lazyboy and would like more top end. I looked inside the chair base and don't see what appears to be any form of controller, wondering if that might be in the joystick housing on the right armrest. Wanted to look at it and see if it might lend itself to upping the voltage to 36 to get a bit more speed. Then again maybe this is just some kind of contactor control type deal since each wheel has its own motor and gearbox/brake assy. I havn't taken it apart yet to see. Any input appreciated. Regards, David Chapman.
