It's fairly easy to directly wire the speedo to the stock sensor without
the onboard computer. You will need a Dakota Digital signal converter to
make the sensor signal compatible with what the speedo expects. I did that
in my 96 S-10 to get the stock speedometer running after the previous
owner removed the onboard computer.
