Default Why the high cost of flexible solar panels?

I remember seeing a ton of articles saying how flexible thin film solar was going to save the solar industry because it could be manufactured at a much lower cost. But, in most cases, it seems that it's MUCH more expensive than traditional crystalline panels. What gives?

Also, I can't find anyone selling individual cells, only strips, panels, or some other form of prefab kit. Anyone know any sources?
