[EVDL] using foam to keep batteries dry
Hey guys,
I'm trying to may my rear battery box water resistant. I have a gap between the bottom of my
fiberglass jeep body and a cross member of the frame. The battery box wall only comes up to the bottom
of the cross member. It's a a 1.5-2" about 4 feet long between the body and frame, with various items
like body mounts in the way. I thought about using expanding foam, but in my google
searches, I saw someone mention it can make steel rust out.
I'm thinking I may try some really fat weather stripping. Has anyone else found a good way to plug
large gaps in an automotive environment? I figure I need something that won't cause rust,
won't degrade, is flexible for frame/body movement, is water resistant, and could some day
be removed if absolutely necessary (like caulk).
Please let me know if you have ideas.
thanks,
-ben
