Norwegian supply ship will add battery pack to its fuel cell system in hopes of reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 20-30 percent.

Ships seem to me to be a natural habitat for batteries of some sort. They are relatively tolerant of higher weight, and could load and offload battery pallets in cargo containers (to have them charged on land between runs). True it would take up more room / weight than oil, but they might make that up in the difference in the operating costs.
