EVDL List is on a distinguished road
Default Re: [EVDL] EVLN: 49% of houses & 14% of Apt's canchargeaplugin-vehicle @home

J-1772 inlet and pilot control board $150
(has only 12 inch cable, need to add the 240V cable
to your charger if the charger does not yet have it)

J-1772 "pistol" jack with cord starts from $225 for 30A
with 29ft cable made in China or $340 for 20ft UL rated
and $420 for a 75A 20ft UL cable.

The EVSE can consist of one of the DIY open source EVSE
boards for $80 plus a power supply, GFCI and Relay plus
a box and a cord and NEMA 14-50 plug that you can get
at your local home improvement store or electrical supply
house as range appliance cable & plug.

You can proabably have your EV charging full level 2 and
carry your own portable level 2 EVSE with you to any
campground (or any home with a range plug within reach
from the driveway!) for between 600-800 dollars.
(not including the installation of an outdoor NEMA 14-50
in your driveway, but that is peanuts in comparison to
the installation cost of an EVSE)

Well, that sounds like an ESVE, just not from a well known manufacturer
To be fair, I think one should include the cost of all these parts.
I wonder how much it costs all together: NEMA jack and plug, J-1772,
electronics, and any cable, etc. Hopefully way cheaper than the
cheapest commercially available ESVE.

Probably with one of the portable EVSE, in other words:
standard plug on one side (like a NEMA 14-50 in this case) and a J-1772
plug on the other side with in between a little box that controls a
relay and the pilot signal and has GFCI. Can be fully J-1772 compliant
without much cost, in fact cheaper than having a permanent installed
EVSE.

Did you also install a J1772? Or, how are you charging your leaf?

Houses in my neighborhood don't even have garages. Just a driveway
beside the house. Yet when I had some remodeling done several years ago,
I had an "RV port" installed on the wall beside the driveway, which
includes a 240V/50A receptacle. Cost was minimal. My Leaf sits outside,
I plug my Level 2 into the receptacle, and charge away. It would be
quite easy to mount a Level 2 unit on the wall permanently.
