Default Let's talk batteries

I am 99% sure that I am going with LiFePO4 batteries, unless I can get some crazy good deal on lead acid or unless some great new tech is released in the next few months.

The next issue is trying to figure out how many amp hours I need vs the cost. And the new batteries that will be developed in the future.

Most of my trips are under 10 miles (85%), 10% are under 30 miles, and the other 5% would be over 40 miles.

I would like to know if 100 Ah at 120V or 144V will be able to handle the trips that I take around town without any problems. I have budgeted about $6,000 for batteries and a BMS.

I will also have to come up with some type of battery box that is weatherproof, lightweight, and easy.

What kind if car are you driving? Do you know how many watts per mile it will consume?

assuming an ave of 300wh/mile, then yes for 40 miles you'll need 12kWh. 80%DOD makes 144V 100Ah not a bad option.

$6,000 is not too bad a price. You'll get what you need with it.
