Default 88 40ah Thunder-Skys and a Ziila 1k = ?

I have the opportunity to purchase 88pcs 40AH Thunder Sky cells, Generation 2 cells. They are resting at 3.2V. The cells were purchased in November of 2008 and arrived in on January 2009. I would run 2 packs of 44 (140 V x 2) in parallel (80 ah combined). There are approximately 5-6K miles on them. Priced at $2500 plus shipping costs. I am running a WarP9 with Zilla 1k in a 1,100+lbs sandrail at 144 V. Is this a good deal? Worth the risk that they may last several more years? Will they work with my setup? My major concern is; I was told NOT to allow the Zilla to run over 500 amps because if I hammered it into higher amps it would ruin the battery pack within a week with 40ah cells. Should I go for 70ah or 100ah instead? I would like to get the most acceleration without damaging the pack and a minimal range of 40 miles (running both packs). Also, should I buy 4 more cells to get to 144 V per pack? How do I charge both packs or should I create one 294 V pack/40ah and limit voltage from controller? I have a short time to make a decission. Thanks.

Not that cheap for 2nd hand cells. Brand new would be $4400. I would pass they are only worth half that price IMHO if that as the newer cells are much better.

In regards to pack design 1p88s or 2p44s it's just one pack, just a different way of putting them together.

If you want a cheap pack for small range but still have full power then you should look at A123 20ah cells. The same pack size in these cells would have 5x the power.

Not sure about the A123s. I was considering 50 CALB 40 Ah LiFePO4 and got this price;

50 Cell = $2,700
50 Busbars = $137.50
Shipping = $472.52

Total = $3310.02

Max amps for the 80ah at 5C (i would not push used cells more) is only 400amps with considerale voltage sag. 2.7v*44cell*400amp=47kw max and that is probably optimistic for used cells. And they may only have a few hundred cycles left.

I would go new if i were you. i would also go larger probly 100ah min.

Yes, decided to go new and larger. Anyone using the A123s with good luck? I heard they were recalls and a few bad cells? Recomendations for good CALB or A123 appreciated. Thanks.

You might want to go with the new CA series (gray) cells from CALB. Wider temp range and less sag.
