You know, I assumed NiCd had gone away too, but I've recently seen
decent brand power tools (DeWalt etc) reappearing on the shelves with
NiCD - you get a choice between cheap NiCd and longer run time Li-Ion,
no choice of NiMH at all with some brands.

However, NiCd had the same problem anyway - only one company (Saft)
really made EV size cells, and they don't cater to individuals.
