Just put the ev back together after a coupler refit - in neutral I was revving the motor at relatively low rpm when a 'flash' occurred at one of the positive terminals on the battery pack, this melted the terminal bolt (its a lithium pack and the voltage is reading normal at 110V) - after later inspection, the negative terminal was loose and perhaps caused this flash (arc)?
However I am now getting a low voltage error on the controller, main fuse looks fine (by visual inspection) - any thoughts?
You probably damaged the cell that flashed over and now it's acting more like a resistor than a battery. You can try bypassing it. Better check the rest of the battery terminal connections, too.
Thanks for the reply, while resting - I bypassed the trouble cell but it made no difference - I'm thinking now it cud be the main fuse..but the voltage on the battery pack is reading 110v which is normal.....
Try measuring at the controller terminals. You want to know why the controller is erring, so you need to see what it sees. Likely that fuse is between the controller and the pack ends you're measuring, and that is the disconnect.
Measured the voltage between the controller terminals - it sees 110V also - accessory battery is reading 12V - maybe theres a software reset in the controller or something, its a kelly controller 600amp
Well I contacted Kelly and they replied quickly. They said that the low voltage error is only measured accross the B+and B/- terminals on the controller (which go to the motor). Unfortunately these are reading 110V which is normal. This tells me that something within the software / hardware is not resetting allowing the error to persist.
