Question
If you want to get a nimh battery pack charged to capacity level ? For example say 236 vdc......does the input charge current have to equal that vdc or must it be a higher vdc charge current............to get there

If I understand your question correctly the voltage always has to be higher than the peak voltage of the pack. If it isn't there is nothing to force the current to flow into the battery and it won't charge.

NiMh are typically charged with a constant current source and the voltage rises as the state of charge increases. NiMh cells have a very minor voltage depression when they reach full charge. This is accompanied by a rapid climb in temperature.

Consult the manufacturers datasheet for charging information for the cell type you have.
