Glaciers in many places take years to advance after snowfall and it would not surprise me that glacial retreat was slowed during the 11 year solar minimum we just passed through and that with solar radiation on the increase again, Himalayan glacial retreat will be back to normal.
In my last holidays I visited the Franz Joesph Glacier and shown below is the evidence of typical glacial retreat we are experiencing in NZ

Re: The Climate Change Debate Thread
Its been a while since I did much reading on this, but I think the main grievance with the Himilayan Glacier 'incident' was that it was simply a poorly done study. I don't remeber all the details about the alleged errors, but even the IPCC was no longer willing to stand behind the conclusions.
Even if the new Grace led study is valid, the conclusion will be challenged by plenty of activists in due course. That seems to be how things are generally done.

Re: The Climate Change Debate Thread
now take a look at what it looked like BEFORE THE LITTLE ICE AGE at about 1200 AD. it looked then like it looks now. so are we all supposed to want another ice age? warm weather brought food and progress. the ice age brought death.
and to make us want another ice age is like asking us to put mercury and lead vapor into small glass tubes to be broken. oups that is what you are actually doing with your stupid pig tail light bulbs.

Dude, I hope it's not the same crowd that's been telling us mercury fillings are safe who are telling us AGW is not man made.
Since you introduced the mercury issue are you aware of how much power stations put into the atmosphere every year? 48tons in 1999 (in the US) and that ends up in the food chain with obvious results to us.... Just another good reason to convert to renewable energy sources, EVs etc., ocean acidification is another.

Re: The Climate Change Debate Thread
So let me paraphrase the article
50 billions tons/year is no ice in 25 years
4 billion tons/year - is insignificant? - at that rate all of the ice would be gone in 300 years
Not the instant death of 25 years but when it provides drinking water for a billion people that is still significant
They are short of water now - a 10% cut in supply could be catastrophic - 30 years??
4 billion tons/year loss is not "No Ice Lost in last 10 years" - wish I had that many dollars - or even 1% of it
The Grace satellites are absolutely magic giving real measurements when before we had scientific estimates

Romania seems to be getting it this year (along with other parts of europe all the way up to russia). They are more than willing to share if you feel you've been short changed
My relatives aren't in harm's way, but the areas that are getting snow are measuring it by the meter, not by the foot.
I had a mild winter, so I can't complain. Only got to drive the EV in the snow twice

We are copping too much of the stuff, places that has not had snow in 50 years are now buried under the stuff. My Prefecture I just moved from in 5 years living there only got 5 cms, the past 6 weeks they have got 1 meter .. I moved to Yokohama because I love snow.. but the place that normally gets 2 weeks have got nothing ... ... I think the snow god hates me ...
