Default wanted go-kart ev conversion parts

Looking to do an ev conversion on my go kart racing frame.

Specs motor must have
36-72v
Etek/mars size or bigger
Min 8hp continuous and 15hp+ Max
pm or series

Controller must have
60-72v
100 amp continuous
300+ amp Max

Would like controller to be programmable and I am kinda steering towards a bigger overkill controller in case I want to go bigger on motor in the future and only have to change out motor.

Maybe some batteries if you are local to 33026 southeast Florida or I will be going to live oak fl, on June 6 for 3 days or so. Would need to pick up as they are considered hazardous and shipping would kill the deal.

Looking for the project to stay under $1000

edit:updated specs 5/21/2012

Batteries not needed at this time. I have some small ones that I am gonna burn up then scrap.

Sounds like a fun project. I am building a e-Kart fight now too. See my build site here for my BOM. Www.winzeracer.com

I came across a fellow e-Karter who had some extra parts. I will get you his info.

I came across a similar problem trying to find used parts. I ended up modifying starter motors for my Electric Go Kart conversion.

I'm in the process of doing further work such as
  • using 2 modified starter motors;
  • liquid cooling for the modified starter motors;
  • increasing voltage from 12volts and above, but limiting current (that will involve using a more sophisticated controller).
Keep us posted how you go as it would be interesting to compare karts.
Keen to see how you go.
