  3. Balqon/Winston/Thundersky batteries at <$1/AH

    Batteries and Charging
Has anyone dealt with Balqon? It appears they recently began an effort to distribute cells directly to consumers at very competitive prices. What's everyone's take on this? http://balqon.com/store.php#ecwid:category=2736691&mode=category&offset=0&sort=priceAsc

  7. thundersky mac discharge and quality.

    Batteries and Charging
I'm sure this question would have been asked before but i can't for the life of me find the thread. i was looking into thundersky batteries mainly because there one of the cheapest lithium going around, and the seem to be good quality. with a long life 3000 cycles (10ish years) with a high max...
  8. Bolt recommendations for Thundersky batteries

    Batteries and Charging
Hi all, I just received my Thundersky batteries. I didn't order the copper bus bars or nuts/washers that come with them. What kind of bolts and washers do you recommend using? I've heard from some people to use stainless (with NoOx goo), and others say to use steel connectors. Should I use...
  9. Whats wrong? Motor surges real bad

    Technical Discussion
I drove the truck 55 miles just to see how far it'd go in 20 degree weather. As I got home, the brakes blew the front drivers side line. So today I replaced it, it fought me all the way, and I got back in the truck to test drive it. I idled down hill but when I started stepping on the gas...
  10. Taking the Thundersky plunge

    Batteries and Charging
I'm doing it! But... I have 225 ah 144V Trojans. So 32.4 KW. How low of an AH can I go with Thundersky's and keep the same range? I understand I can go lower cause I can discharge them more? And I just found a site that has HiPower batteries at slightly cheaper than ThunderSky's, Which is...
  11. Got the cash, what do I buy?

    Batteries and Charging
My LA's are half dead (charged them to 180 degree F four times) so its time to invest in some real batteries. But of all the looking I do, I can't find a good Lithium set at 160-200 AH or even a good BMS that wont cost my first born. I like her, I think she's a keeper! I need the BMS cause...
  12. What gauge wire for batteries, motor, controller?

    Technical Discussion
Hi! I'm converting a 1993 Ford Probe GT. Check out the conversion thread. I have 45 Thundersky batteries. They are 3.2V and 160Ah each. I'll have them all connected in series for 160Ah at 144V. The pack will be used with a WarP9 and a Soliton1. I probably won't draw more than 500 or 600Amps...
  13. Lithium vs Lead; the Great Cost Debate.

    Blog
For lithium this is not a know thing. For lead it's pretty much a given but it still depends upon how well you care for your batteries and how deep you discharge them. I know that for me even changing out lead every 4 years would be far cheaper than lets say one pack of lithium for 10 years. My...
