Your skill level with auto mechanics and fabrication
I have some metal fabrication skills, but not a ton. Mechanically pretty useful on most older cars, and on some newer cars I know just enough to get myself into trouble.
The range you are hoping to get (how many miles/charge)
I'd like to be able to get over 9000 hours.
What level of performance you are hoping to get
I just want to get the thing going on electric, and not have to repair it every 50 miles.
How much money you are willing to put into your project
I'm a hippie, but I do have some money saved up!
What parts you've already considered, if any.
I am considering scrounging around at the fork lift repair shops for a 48v motor. As for batteries, and solar panels I'm thinking of fabricating my own. I'd love any help in these departments. I would love a list of parts I should consider getting such as cooling devices, charge controllers, plugs, snappy looking dohickies that will make the ladies wet.
Ok thanks for reading. I'll post some pictures when I go into town. BTW I live off grid.
Thanks so much
Joel
