It's a 55kW motor running 360v.
Seems ideal for a mid-engine conversion like a MR2 or Miata...
The transverse layout would work fine for an MR2 or a front-wheel-drive vehicle with a transverse engine (keep in mind that an MR2 uses a Corolla or Celica engine and transaxle)... but a Miata is not mid-engine and this Smart EV unit would not fit.

It has quite low power for even a compact car - it would be more suitable for something more Smart-sized. It has about the same power output as the similar drive unit in a Mitsubishi i-MiEV, which is a very light car. Among mid-engine cars, a Fiat X1/9 might be a good match.
