You can probably boost the voltage and battery capacity to get some more performance. There is a pretty large cult following of the Honda Insights and CR-Z modifying them to increase the electric motor assist power and longer duration, plug-in charging etc. Some of the tricks are just using resistors to fool the computer's amp and voltage readings to allow higher power. They've doubled or more the stock electric motor assist power in some cases.
