I was wondering what an ON-BOARD bottom balancing system might consist of.

1) an isolated 3.43 (or whatever half voltage is) dc/dc or ac/dc protected low amp charger for each cell. (could run on accessory battery,AC or even pack voltage.)

2) a controller to kick it on then the cells are lower than that and not in use (car being driven), and turn off each one when the cell reaches voltage. it could also indicate a cell that is not coming up to balance.

3) a manual switch in the cab to run a bottom balance after a drive.

Q's
1) would it hurt the cell if the 3.44v input was not turned off once it reached that voltage? no right?
2) I suppose you could make a lossy circuit and just use resisters, but that seems wasteful.
