Hello EV Community,

I recently purchased a Mars ME0909 for my Electric ATV Conversion and am moving on to looking for a motor controller and battery system. I am looking for an hour or two of operation and a range of a few miles. It is for use in the mountains so It needs to be able to climb hills and possibly tow firewood. I am very interested in a Lithium Ion solution such as using CALB batteries or a used chevy volt/nissan leaf battery module. Any guidance as for controllers, batteries, BMS, or otherwise would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all the information Major, I have since bought a Curtis 1205M 48V Controller rated at 500A and programmed to 05K‎Ω. I have been looking into purchasing used Nissan Leaf or Chevy Volt battery modules, but would love some guidance into more specific wiring such as contractors, fuses, and pot boxes. In addition to these, I am considering using an 18650 Battery architecture. As for the AH, I am curious to how much capacity I will need as my calculations have yielded about 100AH for optimal usage and range but have seen others on evalbum using far less AH capacity and getting decent range. Any insights into EV Construction would be greatly appreciated.
