Battery monitoring through CAN BUS

I'm new at this and looking at monitoring the battery voltage, amp, temp. through CAN BUS. The reason is that my system is 500v and I cannot locate a guage that is compatible. I'm gathering that all of these things can be communicated via CAN BUS. I have an Orion BMS.
If this is the case, I will try to find a gauge that replaces my stock fuel gauge.
So my questions are:
Am I correct that I can monitor the s.o.c. through the BMS accurately?
Does anyone have a source of gauges that work through CAN BUS?
Does anyone know a good resource for getting started on CAN BUS?
Thank you,
Mitch

Another option is to use the Torque App on your phone, with an OBD2 dongle wired to the Orion CANBUS. I have this for more detailed diagnostic info than I'm displaying on my Arduino screen. The Arduino screen really just tells me that something is wrong. Torque gives some clue as to what might be wrong - then plugging the Orion in to my PC to fix it if it needs.
