Hey

I posted about this is a different thread and was told this would be a better place to ask : ) forgive the repost.

So in a nut shell I’ve a 500v 20hp dc motor. Got it for pretty cheap at work. Thing is a monster (in my opinion). info in pictures. There’s nothing really to put the motor in scale in the pictures, the out put shaft is an inch and 5/8 wide, if that helps any.

Do you think this working for an ev? I’ve not seen anyone use a motor this size. Causing me to wonder if like industrial 3phase motors: not advisable

Well the label says shunt wound so your controller options narrow. Looks big enough. Typical DC motors for cars are at least 9" in diameter and weigh about 125 lbs
