Hello,
For the past 9 months, EV Conversions can not successfully plug into the brand new BMW EVSE J1772. Once plugged the charger works, but after 9 seconds the EVSE goes a red light alarm and then it cuts the charging process. I've tested 5 conversions with different chargers, same symptom. For some reason BWM EVSE allows only OEM EV to be connected, several brands: Nissan (Leaf), etc.
In all other EVSE the J1772 inlet with the resistors and diode is enough. So I revisited the J1772 circuit and I found the PP (Proximity Pin) to be used in some EVSE, so I wired it with the proper resistors and 5V+ supply, I did a bench test to verify the expected voltage drop from 4.5V to 1.5v... I went to test it at BWM EVSE: same problem :-(
Any suggestion will be welcome.
Thanks
