Hello!

I've recently been doing research and looking into building an EV. I live in a big, European city, and so while i'm not very concerned about Range, I really want to build an electric car with maximum acceleration. Where should i start researching?

What gives an electric car good acceleration? High torque motors? Could combining 2 forklift motors onto a single output shaft give me enough torque to get 5-6 second 0-60 times, or is that not realistic due to huge current draw?

Otherwise, what are some good motors to look into when building an EV for acceleration? Ive heard of the Warp-9 motor for example, anything else?

Hi - I use a single 11 inch forklift motor - and I reach 96 mph in 7.8 seconds on the 1/8th mile - that is about 4 seconds to 60 mph

I would suggest using something similar

"What gives an electric car good acceleration?"

1. Torque and power, not just a motor but sufficient battery to supply the current.

2. Traction - RWD or AWD will give the best compared to FWD.

3. The right gear ratio that matches the motor's powerband for the target speeds.
