Hello. I have a Chevy Volt Battery pack and an original charger, and I have a question - how to balance elements? Has anyone tried to connect the Chevy Volt HPCM2 (hybrid powertrain control module)? This unit is responsible, among other things, for charging and balancing and sends commands via the CAN bus and receives data.

There is of course another option -https://github.com/tomdebree/AmperaBattery, but to make the precharge relay work and connect the display, in addition to the teency board you need to purchase BMS Master: SIMP-BMS https://www.diyelectriccar.com/forums/showthread.php/fs-tesla-vw-outlander-bms-master-198263.html.

But the HPCM module can be bought on ebay for only $ 150.

A number of people have looked at the HPCM but as far as I know nobody has figured out how to make it do its balancing thing.

If you are comfortable with a raspberry pi or ESP32 or something similar, you can easily get the BICMs to do their balancing tricks by spitting out the right CAN messages. Those are documented here:

and in the source code for the simpBMS
