I have a jet electrica escort. I seem to be having problems with my contactor not transferring 100% of the power all the time.

At times I will get 80% power transfer and then at random I will get 100% acceleration and speed.

My contactor arc's and pits the points pretty bad.

The contactor is an open contactor i.e. it is from and aircraft and it is not encased.

No it does not have a pre charge resistor. I was going to put one on and see what happens.

If you are using a switch to complete the circuit between your battery and motor drive without some form of pre-charge you technically are arc-welding. Pretty impressive switch if it lasts more than once cycle.

My car was built in the 80's by jet industries. Here are pics of the contactor.

wow, take it off and get another, or take it out and clean the crap out of it. It's probably got a ton of build up.

If you replace it get an EV200 or LEV200.

Well I took my contactor apart today. The points where welded together. I filed the points, fluxed them, and put a resistor across it. I will post my results. It has been three months since I last cleaned and filed the points.

If I do not get the results I want then I will probably get an EV200.
