Wife always wanted a beetle, so I bought one. Manual trans and in great shape. Just started and plan on doing most of the work myself. I know a lot about 18650's and have made numerous packs. I plan on making the battery from new 3000mA 18650's. I have over 5000 of them.
Live in Las Vegas and am ready to continue working on this project.

Looking at different motors and setups. Not sure what would be best.

Thanks,
Try

I'm part way through a 2003 beetle budget conversion using salvage parts.

I wouldn't self assemble a load of 18650s but if I already had them or could get them for free I might have been tempted.

The New Beetle is a pretty typical front wheel drive car with transverse engine, so the same solutions for motor and transmission used for other similar cars (just about any compact front wheel drive car since 1980) are workable.

I like the idea of a blog. Somewhere to put pictures and explain some of the process. Thanks.
Interesting.
