Hi, I'm really not sure where to put this, so I'll try this first. Based on casual perusal, it looks like Copart has some very good deals on cars that aren't too badly damaged. Some of them just look like they need a few panels replaced. I'm looking at using a fairly nice donor car, but obviously I don't want to spend any more than I need to for something that I'm immediately going to rip apart anyway. My question is, if I'm going to be building a performance-oriented vehicle, is it worth it in the long run to get a damaged car that will need repairs, and is it safe to build a monster of a car in a vehicle that has previously taken an impact?

Depends on the car, specifics of the damage, and what you plan to do to/with it.

There's no generic answer to your question
