Can't help on the fuse rating.
The reason for this is that you wouldn't want a quick blow fuse breaking at just on 450A when you are climbing that steep hill, over taking a slow truck, at max power from the controller.
The slow blow would give you a little breathing space for short bursts of maximum accelleration without blowing immediately.
From what I gather the fuse should be a slow blow.Also, the documentation refers to a "slow blow" fuse, which sounds bad. Shouldn't it be fast acting?
