So, first off, I'm new to the forum and I've been lurking for a while. I have saved about 10k for my first EV project. I will be converting a 1974 Chevy Vega. This car is about 2100lb stock. I plan to shave about 300lb off of it before the conversion. I've decided on this motor (144v)
My plan is to design my own battery packs with 38120s Headway Cells. My goal is to get at least ~40 mile range and have a decently fun to drive car. Based on my math (I have no idea what I'm doing) I will need 10 batteries (~45 cells a piece 144v) wired in parallel to achieve ~100Ah (10Ah each cell). If that math is right, that's about $7500. Yikes. Would it be better/efficient to simply use 12v lawn mower or car batteries? Any help would be appreciated. P.s. I've done a lot of researching and haven't been able to find an answer so far.
