Hi all.

I'm soon to mount an AC50 to a volvo amazon gearbox. I can't figure out if you should support the mors or not?

Looking a conversion builds on Karmann Ghia's they don't. But there aren't many photos of the Amazon's. So I'm unsure.

Anyone have any ideas?

HPEVs doesn't seem to provide any attachment points on the motor body, so I imagine they've designed them to be sufficiently supported through the face plate alone. I would be concerned a bit more for some specialty applications like a dune buggy or similar vehicle with lots of vertical stresses. Though another consideration would be what it attaches to.

I agree that these motors appear to be intended to be supported from their output face only.

But something does still need to hold it up, and of course in a conventional car the engine supports the front of the transmission... with the motor replacing the engine, a substantial mount needs to support the motor, transmission, and adapter, and that mount needs to handle the reaction to all of the transmission drive torque (which is the motor torque multiplied by the gear ratio).
