"Electric differential"

As I was looking at the AmpElectric site I saw this in their video.


I love the simplicity of this design :
- 1 Remy HVH250 motor per wheel
- 1 planetary reduction gear per wheel

I don't really understand how it work, especially in curve, but it's simply beautiful !

That's about the best looking setup for a motor I've seen. Hub motors sound really good until you actually look into it further. All the added unsprung weight plays hell with the handling and ride characteristics of the car and putting an expensive motor through all the abuse the wheel sees in everyday use just make it impractical.

There is one motor and one reduction gear PER WHEEL. In other words, the wheels can rotate at differing speeds without issue.
