Other recommendations for BMS?
Here's a list of all commercially available Li-Ion BMSs.

While I shouldn't make any recommendations for specific companies, I will advise which type is appropriate for an EV (reference: section 2.1 of the Li-Ion BMS book):

  • an analog balancer (if you want protection but you don't care if the BMS can tell you which cell is low or high and by how much)
  • a digital balancer (if you want the BMS to report the status of each cell)
I think you'll find that many Do-It-Yourselfers use these analog balancers: Clean Power Auto MiniBMS or the EV-Power BMS; they implement all the essential functions of a BMS yet they are quite simple.

The EnergyCS BMS was developed for trains and for PHEV conversions, and is not an off-the-shelf BMS (it is customized specifically for a given application); it is powerful, but maybe too high level for a Do-It-Yourselfer.
