I have an electronic tachometer installed on the front shaft.

I got most of the basic parts including the adapter plate from EV America. They used to be a pretty active dealer in EV conversion parts. I think they're still in business. I had to trim the adapter plate to fit the transmission but the center hole was cut to fit the motor.

I've been into EV's since 2012. I've owned 6 total, two of them being S10 conversions with pretty much this exact setup as this one. For anyone considering this truck, it's a steal at $5K. This is a turnkey running EV. I personally know it would be difficult to build this setup for less than $10K. If you're new to EV's, the best way is to buy one complete. The learning curve is much faster because you have the complete functioning electric vehicle sitting in front of you and can see how it all goes together. Secondly if it's turnkey, you don't have to do any of the hard work. Third, I don't know the person selling this truck and have no skin in this except to say once again, it's a steal at $5K.

When I upgraded my last S10 conversion, Leaf modules averaged $85 each for ones with around 1/2 capacity. Modules with more capacity cost more. As a side note, all leaf modules degrade, it's the Leaf's inherent problem. This truck has 40 (truck) and 8 (extra). At an approx. cost of $85 each thats $4080 just for the batteries alone. Add the cost of this motor and you're over the $5K asking price by at least $500. Seller, I don't know you but if I get the funds I'm all over this.

These pictures don't show the upgrade to the Leaf modules. I took pictures but got lazy about posting them. Also, I should mention these pictures are from 2009 when I first did the conversion. So that's a full 13 years ago. The nice "el ohmbre" wrap on the tailgate has gotten old.

I've had a few people inquire about this truck who were sort of expecting it to be similar to a Tesla Cybertruck for $5k. That's not the case. This is very much a project. The donor vehicle is from 1985 with a lot of miles on it. There is no power steering, no power brakes, no power windows but everything works. All the energy goes toward range. I'm still working on the BMS for the new Leaf modules to manage them safely. This would be a great car for someone consider building their own.

After extensive research about converted to electric, I have decided not to pursue this mode of transportation for this old guy. The 2002 S-10 that I was given as a retirement gift from my wife and son is enough for me. To convert takes to much time and money. I plan on keeping what I have and be happy. The five hundred I spent for my cosmetic makeover is a lot better than the 20 k plus now in today's over priced market. For 5k for the 1985 drivable is a great deal/steal for someone, thank you for thinking of me. Have a Merry Christmas.
