I purchased this car last summer with plans to convert it to Electric
as my "Company Car".

We put an 8" Net Gain Motor that was originally on Steve's Dixie
Chopper, and the original Austin Transmission was "part of" the
engine, and sat where the oil pan would have been. So Steve took an
old 86 Toyota Turcel Transmission and Shift Linkage and it fit just
perfect. Steve says not so perfect, but he DID get it in there...and
today we went for the first ride to see how everything ran. He is
letting me do lots of the work myself and there is something about
getting your hands INTO the project that makes you feel good about the
car you drive.

I have put together a little video of my little "GREEN BEAN".

"No brakes!" That must be why Steve is sitting on the front - so he can stop
it Flintstones-style. ;-)

Nicely done. I really get a kick out of these '60s vintage small cars.
I'll bet you could've pulled the engine the way I used to pull the 1000 cc
hamster wheel on my '65 Opel Kadett - with a comealong slung over a garage
beam.

Who would have thought a Tercel trans would drop right in? That was a good
call.

Looks like I wont have to be riding on the hood of this car any more !

We have, what I believe, is one of the first SOLITON JUNIORS
Controllers, By Evnetics. and it is destined to go IN the GREEN BEAN.
It has all the same features as their 1000Amp Soliton1, but is a full
500 AMPS. 300 V and in a smaller box.
This controller, being water tight, does not have to go in a box and
it looks so good on its own Audrey wants to show it off, so We will
be mounting it on some plexiglass and adding some LED lights under
neath to add some "bling" to her set up.

Steve Clunn

Check out my project page... http://greenshedconversions.com/PARTS.aspx
to see this beauty !!

Steve is a lucky guy... MY Valentine present and a fun installation
all in one ! Some guys have all the luck ! I WILL miss seeing him
on the front of my car !! He made a good hood ornament.
