Snitched from the EV-World Web sight. Probably not the kind of HARD
engineering data us folks would like
but better than any thing I have seen so far.

Now "SHOW ME THE MONEY ! ! " Or I mean to say... How much is it
going to Cost ??

Cool, the Focus is progressed from the subcompact Pinto line..... Pinto,
Escort, Tempo, Focus ... all are excellent candidates for electrification
:)

If you haven't already, I suggest you explore the Ford Focus Electric
thread
http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/Ford-Focus-Electric-tt3303876.html

Ford created a FaceBook page which should have lots of info available
on it.

I hope last week's post I made about how Ford UK is not planing to
spend much money or effort to promote the Ford Focus in the UK is not
the case in the U.S. when it is released here.

IMHO: I look forward to the release of the Ford Focus Electric in the
U.S. It has the potential to be offer benefits the Leaf does not have
like an on-board 6kW charger. etc. Its release will add to the
purchasable EVs available to the public (improving the EV portfolio).

I have a piece on the above thread that will be about how the Ford
Focus Electric will have an on-board IT system rivaling GM's. It seems
Automakers are looking to make their vehicles more connected to the
Internet. Look for it in the posts listing in the next
Re: What'd You Miss? ...

Later, I will have a post about that and its vulnerabilities (someone
could hack your vehicle causing serious problems).

Looks more like it's straight from Ford. Whatever.

What an - uh - odd looking EV (my opinion, sorry). Do you suppose they
really need that huge, snarling front grille to cool the battery and motor,
or is that just for looks?

Maybe they'll also give it a pair of of those comical 4" diameter tailpipes
they put on ICEs these days. They could put speakers in 'em and have a
sound generator simulate a burbling V8 note.

I didn't see anything in the ad about the "oooohh, butterflies." ;-)

Apparetly it is part of their Kinetic Design of the vehicle.
Even parked is seems like it is in motion....

I think that is a carryover from the ICE version of the Focus.

I understand that they are just dropping an EV drive train into the existing
Focus model.

The good news is that they get it out the door more quickly, but they pay
the price
via an efficiency hit.

It's grill is more in line with Aston Martin and Tesla Roadster S ISH. Pretty
poor to use that but it has hint of that, no doubt.

The electric version has a different front grill but yes it is an ICE
conversion, no different than what we are doing.

Plenty of vehicles to choose from.

Pete :)

Maybe not quite a normal conversion. I hear they designed the chassis to take several drive systems; gas, diesel, hybrid and electric. They then decide late in the assembly which one so that can respond to demand and to future innovation without re-engineering the whole vehicle. Bodes well for cheaper parts and third party options since the various models will be very similar or the same other than the drive chain.
