AMD Supporting Workers Who Buy Electric Cars.

"Advanced Micro Devices Inc. has installed three electric vehicle charging
stations at its office campus in Southwest Austin, the company said
Tuesday." The stations are AMD's "effort to support workers who might want
to buy electric cars and plug-in hybrid vehicles that are coming to market.
No AMD employees currently drive such vehicles to work, but several have
expressed an interest, said Justin Murrill, the company's global
sustainability manager."

It never made the news, but Hewlett-Packard in Boise, ID has 3 electric
vehicle charging outlets for employees. There are actually two in use at
this time. Both vehicles are conversions. These 110V-20A outlets have been
in place for several years. Hopefully, they will expand the number if
demand exceeds the number of spots.

That's most excellent.
And it'll be great to see more employers do this.
What impressed me was that AMD would put this in place before any of their
employees were asking for it.
Contrast that with their rival INTEL, which likely has numerous employees
who drive their electrics to work (at least 2 in Oregon that know of) and
despite that, has seen no reason to put in charging facilities.
